Traiettorie Music Prize 2021

It is with great pleasure that we announce that the winner of Traiettorie Music Prize 2021 is:
MAËL BAILLY.

MAËL BAILLY - Biography

It is through the practice of musical improvisation that Maël Bailly takes the path of musical invention.
Attending Gilles Deliège’s viola class at the Conservatory of Tours, he discovered the contemporary repertoire, mysterious and attractive curiosity.
The opening in 2012 of Alessandro Solbiati’s composition workshop was decisive: he discovered, with a mixture of enthusiasm and circumspection, the cuisine of writing. The following year he entered Alain Mabit’s 20th-21st century writing class, then, in 2014, Gérard Pesson’s Composition class.
He works in collaboration with artists such as the circus artist Quentin Folcher, for whom he composed the choreographic piece «Pour un cirque imaginaire».
In 2017 and 2018 he is composer in residence at GMEM in Marseille for «La symphonie de la Cayolle», a work with a social dimension, which brings together children and adults from his neighborhood and the C Barré ensemble. In 2021, he has started a SACRe doctorate, with the subject “contemporary music, in search of new ways of sharing”..
